EU-MEDIN - Eur0pean-Mediterannean Disaster Information Network
The European Mediterranean Disaster Information Network (EU-MEDIN) is an initiative of DG Research of the European Commission, which fosters co-ordinated and increased access to data and expert know-how before, during and after a disaster strikes.
For five years, I was involved with the design, implementation and administration of a web site, which was built to support the objectives of EU-MEDIN. This was based on PHP-Nuke, but a great deal of extensions were carried out to it by myself in order to realise the requirements.
The largest task was the design and implementation of a database system for storing and retrieving metadata records of EC-funded research in the field of natural hazards. This database was available through the EU-MEDIN web-site, but has since been decommissioned. The image below shows one of the forms for querying the database.
